One of the major sources of cellulose are cereals, lentils, string beans, nuts, seeds, fresh vegetables and fruit. The longer the food is in the body the longer it takes to digest. Cellulose accelerates the process and promotes the reduction of toxins and slags.
Cellulose, as in oats, can also restore beneficial micro flora of intestines and operates as a scrub for the stomach. When it bulks up in water it acts like a sponge for intestinal mobility. Oats also reduces blood sugar levels, so doctors recommend oats for people suffering from diabetes, as it reduces glucose levels and requirements for insulin. It also has beta-glucane that improves the fatty exchange for normalisation of body weight and toning up. You can compensate food fibre deficiency with oats making them tasty when mixed in yoghurt, muesli or dietary breads.
A bowl of oat porridge can cover all daily requirements. A lot of people find oats very bland, but they can be made more exotic by mixing in honey, fruits of your choices, nuts and seeds. One can also make wonderful cookies with different variations with oats and they can also be used to thicken soups and stews. Interesting cakes and muffins are also made with oats. Oats are great for all ages, whether young, old, sick or strong. They really are convenient, and soul food for others. Besides being a balanced, low calorie and convenient food, oats are great energy boosters.
Another advantage of oats lies in the fact that the starch of this cereal is digested slowly to keep hunger at bay. You can, therefore, feel full though eating less and superfluous kilos will slowly disappear in the most natural way. With oat porridge, a person remains feeling full for a long time and also has energy to last several hours.
You can also make a wonderful face scrub by mixing oats with milk and honey to refresh the skin on your face, legs and arms.
