A ‘made in India’ tea brand
City:

Vahdam Teas, an upcoming online tea brand, funded by Fireside Ventures, Mumbai Angels, Singapore Angel Network and a few undisclosed investors, has now got a shot in the arms with its new “Chai Teas Private Reserve Trio” having been included in this year’s ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things Holiday Gift’ list. The list is featured in the December issue of O, The Oprah Magazine and OprahMag.com. The Oprah’s Favorite Things annual list is a must-have holiday shopping guide that features desserts, gadgets, and finest brands in home, fashion, and beauty.

Vahdam is working on to promote itself as an iconic, ‘made in India’ tea brand in the global market on the basis of efficiency of its disruptive supply chain, concerns for the farmers and their families and patronisation of a truly ethical and fair trade product.

The new Chai Teas Private Reserve Trio will be made available for purchase at Vahdamteas.com, Amazon, the Oprah’s Favorite Things storefront on Amazon at  amazon.com/oprah and also on the Amazon App, top company officials said, adding that this new year, shoppers will also be able to shop the list via shoppable video content streaming from their Amazon Fire TV devices by opening the Amazon Shopping App on their Fire TV device and selecting Oprah’s Favorite Things to browse the video content.

Vahdam’s Chai Teas Private Reserve Trio features garden fresh, loose-leaf chai teas from the finest tea gardens of India. It includes a gift box containing three of its best-selling chai teas all packed in elegant tin tea holders comprising of Maharani Chai Spiced Oolong Tea, Ginger Masala Chai Tea and Sweet Cinnamon Masala Chai Tea.

“Vahdam Teas is extremely honoured to be on the prestigious list of Oprah Winfrey Favorite Things 2018. Oprah is an inspiration for millions around the globe including myself, is a tea connoisseur and a huge chai lover. Being a tea company from India we are thrilled to know that she has a found her favorite chai tea blends in the Vahdam Teas collection. Being the first Indian company to be a part of Oprah’s prestigious list is definitely something to cherish for us,” said Bala Sarda, founder Vahdam Teas.

Sarda, who hails from a family that has been into tea business for more than 80 years now, said that the company sources its teas from 150-200 premium tea plantations across Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiris, Arunachal Pradesh, Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nepal. The company has worked hard to streamline its supply chain where it doesn't have to waste time shuffling the tea between multiple middlemen. This in turn, means that the company is able to ship its teas in the shortest possible time.

Significantly, Vahdam Teas is disrupting the supply chain of tea, by making garden fresh teas to consumers across the world available in the shortest periods of time, by leveraging technology and cutting out all unnecessary middlemen. Vahdam’s Teas do not travel in containers for months before being packaged and sold. All the teas are procured directly from plantations and tea growers within days of production, packaged garden fresh and shipped directly from source in India.
