What is your idea of a dream home?

My home in Chattarpur, near Mehrauli in Dehli, means everything to me. That’s the place I always wanted to create. It is a reflection of everything that I am passionate about. That is my world — a beautiful place with a loving husband and a beautiful daughter. That is my dream home and I don’t dream of having any other now.

What kind of interiors do you prefer for your dream home?

My space is all about my loved ones and me. I don’t like to let others decorate it as I wanted to give individual attention to everything. I decided how my house should look. Right from the art, furniture and the smell of plants, it’s my innovation. My husband and I have designed every bit of it. It is totally personalised. Our home defines who we are to the world. Every little thing about the house says who we are.

Describe the house you live in right now?

Summerleas, in Chattarpur, is far removed from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. When I moved in after marriage, my husband Bobby gave me empty walls to work with. He said, “Do it up the way you like.” I purposely avoided giving my house any particular look. My first priority was to make the house livable and to make sure that every room had a distinct personality. A house is where you live. It is not for visitors. Therefore, it should be the way you want it to be.

Which is your favourite corner in your home?

My favourite place is my private sitting area, which doubles as my home-office space as well. Not only because I spend my entire day there, but also because the place is very cosy and peaceful. I also have a small temple in that area and that is where I am whenever I need a quiet moment with myself. It gives me much-needed peace. I like to spend a lot of time there and so does my husband.

In which other city would you prefer your ideal home to be?

I like the house I live in and do not dream of any other home. However, if I have to choose it would, of course, be Paris! Actually, I already have one there. Paris is a beautiful city.

What matters more to you, a comfortable house or a well-kept house?

I would go for a livable, comfortable and well-kept house. It should be a balance of both cleanliness and comfort. If it looks like a museum, you cannot live there. If it is cluttered, then again, it is not a home
