the myth that fashion is only for hunks with six-pack abs and size-zero beauties.

"I have never done a collection earlier keeping health in mind. But my overweight clients keep telling me that normal clothes often don't suit them. So I thought lets do it for them this time. It is a myth that the obese cannot be fashionable," said City designer Tejas Gandhi told PTI after a fashion show for the overweight here last night

The designer said that clothes for overweight can be fashionable using slight tricks with the fabrics, cuts and designs.

"For example, thin fabrics will not look good on them. I gave some asymmetrical cuts in the clothes to hide their figure," Gandhi added.

Designer duo Souvik and Aditi said, "This is the first of its kind. When we worked on the design and cuts it was a conscious effort to bring out the spirit of the show that fashion is for everyone, including obese people."

Brands like A&D, Rene and ALL also showcased their collection in the fashion event.
