Chennai on Saturday. It intends to invest close to $50 million in the facility. It is expected to be completed in the next three years. “We have about 14,000 employees globally. When complete, the Chennai facility with a capacity to hold about 10,000 employees will be our second major centre in the country after Pune,” said Prashant Ranade, chief executive officer and president of Syntel.

The first phase of the Chennai campus consists of three software development blocks with a 900-seat training unit. It covers 6.5 lakh sq ft with capacity for over 5,000 employees. The facility will handle IT services operations for the banking, healthcare and insurance verticals of Syntel.

Apart from the centre, Syntel works out of three facilities in Chennai. It also continues to expand its SEZ campus in Pune with a planned 4,200 additional seats as well as a 1,200-seat training block. The total capacity of the Pune centre when completed will be ab-out 10,000 seats, he said
