iTrans to take Tcop across south India

Bangalore-based mobile wireless product maker iTrans said it will take its patented car security product Tcop across south India in the next three months. Since its launch, Tcop has seen about 750 installations in Karnataka.

Tcop, built on GSM technology, is a security system that enables two-way communication between the car and its owner. Tcop device fitted onto the car enables an owner to be alerted of an intrusion or theft through an SMS who could then trigger a burglar siren by sending back an SMS to the device. When the car is moving, location details are sent to the mobile either through text or as navigation pointer on the map.

“The owners can also track where their car is presently located. Also, details of the last 72 hours of the movement of the car and places it has been to can be collected. It could also be fitted onto school vans or buses and help parents through SMS to track the vehicles' movement,” said Mallesh Reddy, founder and CEO of iTrans.

Tcop, which is designed and manufactured by iTrans at Mysore facility and supported by Vodafone, is available in 3 models. iTrans and Vodafone have signed a revenue share pact for the SIM card.

“We have tied up with 29 dealers and promoting the product at their showrooms. Besides, we are taking the product to the consumers through direct marketing. Since, two-wheeler is a huge market in India, we will be coming out with a similar product for two wheelers shortly,” Reddy said.

Besides automobile, the company focuses on home security, vehicle fleet management, personnel management, facility security management, and energy supply monitoring.
