for the current placement season that began in mid-January. In 2009, the institute had withdrawn two-offer policy in the backdrop of economic slowdown. However, now, ISB is again allowing its students to receive two offers this year.

The class of 2010 has 570 students participating in the placement process that will see over 300 companies visiting the campus. ISB follows a rolling placement system that is spread over two months. The placement process is expected to continue till March-end.

V K Menon, senior director-careers, admissions and financial aid at the ISB told FC, “Our placement process starts around December - January and continues till the end of March. With the improvement in the hiring scenario, we have adopted a two-offer policy per student this year. Last year the bandwidth of companies was limited because of the tough economic situation, therefore each student could receive only one offer.”

According to Menon, 326 companies participated in the placement process in 2009. Most of the companies that visited the campus last year are expected to participate in the current placement season, too.

“This year, too, we expect a good season. Companies have started visiting the campus. It is too early to arrive at a conclusion regarding domestic or international offers. We will be in a position to share figures only after the process gets over,” Menon said. About 401 domestic offers were made last year compared to 51 international offers.

Menon also declined to share expected salary packages. In 2009, average domestic salary offered (CTC basis) was Rs 15.5 lakh, while the average international salary package was $199,022.
