Green Gold to set up animation academy

India’s nascent animation industry would require one lakh skilled professionals within a couple of years to support the expansion efforts of the domestic players. At present, there are just 20,000 such workers available in the country, according to Rajiv Chilaka, founder & MD of Green Gold Animation.

“There’s a huge demand for animation professionals in India. Right now, we have enough people. But the rate at which the industry is growing, there will be a shortfall soon,” Chilaka said.

Green Gold is in the process of setting up its second animation academy at Hyderabad to provide animation training. The company is already running an academy at Warangal in Andhra Pradesh.

“Each batch would comprise of 30 students and the focus would be on imparting specialised and high-end training,” Chilaka said.

Green Gold also has plans of producing a full length animation movie, the first for the company, based on the popular cartoon character ‘Chhota Bheem’.
