These courses would benefit medical staff, nursing staff, paramedical staff, executives and support staff and would be launched at the proposed 'Apollo Aragonda Health Knowledge City' (AAHKC) in Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Apollo Hospitals Chairman Dr Prathap Reddy told reporters today.
He said that the knowledge city, spread over 100 acres and was designed to train 2,000 learners at one time. The facility would have simulation labs, classrooms, a hospital, a medical college and residential facilities.
"Our commitment is to train 25,000 skilled healthcare workers per year in this facility,' he added.
Dr Reddy said there would be a 50-bedded modern health care unit with high-tech medical equipment in AAHKC.
According to the agreement, the training courses would be jointly developed by Apollo Hospitals and IGNOU. The courses duration would range from a minimum of three months to two years. Training sessions would be online, on site and distance education method.
Announcing a slew of healthcare initiatives, Dr Reddy said the group has plans for incorporating Hospital Information System (HIS) and digital record systems with a view to gain real-time access to patient information. "Apollo also plans to integrate this with telemedicine and embed this into the ambit ambit of its Reach hospitals," he said.
Dr Reddy said that the group also initiated construction of 'Apollo Reach Hospitals' in rural areas and also initiated procurement of land and identification of cities to set up the first phase of 25 such hospitals over the next two years across the country.
He also pointed out that Apollo Group today celebrated its 25th anniversary.
