So, you think you know your rockstars?

Verus Ferreira, a music journalist, has just published his second book The Great Rock Music Quiz Book. The book was launched recently in Mumbai by Lesle Lewis, the veteran singer-composer of Colonial Cousins album fame. Lewis has given his imprimatur for the book by writing a beautiful foreword. He was all praise for the author, whom he knew for many years going back to the days when Lesle released his album Colonial Cousins in 1997.

The book launch in Mumbai aptly began with some classic rock songs of artists featured in the book. Mumbai’s popular singer Lawrie D’Souza sang his heart out with his opening piece Hotel California, followed by Ferreira’s favourite song Roadhouse Blues. The audience was left asking for an encore and he delightfully obliged with Eric Clapton’s classic Wonderful Tonight. Lesle also took centre stage belting out his favourite tracks from his Colonial Cousins days. The jam packed evening also featured a live performance by Gospel singer Macklin Lacerda from the Gospel rock band Open Secret, who is also featured in the book.

Grooming and speech consultant Sarita Manchand was in conversation with Ferreira with a lively Q&A  session. The author revealed his insights on his journey in shaping the book to its final print. He also shared his experiences of meeting a few music bands, one of them being Iron Maidn whom he met in 2008 when they performed in Mumbai.

This new quiz book has over 950 questions and answers. “The book will bring back memories of house parties, the days when youngsters used to play air guitars to rock anthems like Hotel California, Brick in the Wall, Wonderful Tonight, Sultans of Swing, We Will Rock You and Roadhouse Blues, among others,” Ferreira told me. The book is also a source of education for the younger mobile phone generation who missed out a way of life that might never return, so to say.

The Great Rock Music Quiz Book is the book to test your knowledge on bands like Aerosmith, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses , The Rolling Stones and many more. Indeed a good read for all rock music fans. Ferreira is also founded his own music portal www.musicunplugged.in
