Tatas, Meru Cabs submit EoI for investment

for investment in Bangladesh with 10,000-20,000 radio-controlled taxis, said Matlub Ahmed, president of India-Bangladesh chamber of commerce and industry here on Tuesday.

Speaking at a CII meeting of Indian and Bangladeshi business leaders, Ahmed said the Tata Meru proposal would ease transportation situation in his country. Business leaders from Bangladesh and India discussed various measures that could enhance bilateral trade. Leader of the Bangladesh business delegation and chairman, Standard Bank, Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed said, “It has been an exchange of ideas for betterment of economic relations and expectation sharing on both the sides."

The delegation stressed the need to sign a free trade agreement between India and Bangladesh. Among the issues listed by the Bangladesh delegation, exporters from Bangladesh expressed their concerns over visa problems in doing business with India.

Chairman, Lombardini India, and past president, CII, Shekhar Datta, informed, “The Indian high commission in Dhaka is working on new visa guidelines.”
