country, Union Minister of State for Housing, Tourism and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has said.

The Central government is providing funds to states under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for this purpose, she said here yesterday.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating a flyover named after former Chief Minister Y S Rajaskehar Reddy at Kakinada near here. She also unveiled a bronze statue of the late Congress leader.

Praising Andhra Pradesh for taking rapid strides on the development front, Selja said that the state has been regularly receiving funds from the Centre to implement welfare schemes.

Union Minister of Defence for State M M Pallam Raju, who is the Member of Parliament from Kakinada, said the flyover, constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore, will help in easing traffic in the town.

Union Minister of State for Textile Panabaka Lakshmi said the UPA government has launched 'Akshara Bharati' programme education of women in the country.
