BSE derivatives volume crosses Rs 3,400 cr mark

The volume of derivatives trading touched Rs 3,409.94 crore with 1,41,052 total contracts traded during the day, the BSE said in a statement here.

In the futures segment, Sensex (future contracts for current month) stood at Rs 2,354.41 crore, it added.

The index futures registered Rs 2,364.79 crore turnover with 98,747 contracts traded on the BSE. Among others, Index Options (call) posted a turnover of Rs 842.68 crore, while Index Options (put) had Rs 194.93 crore and equity futures Rs 7.53 crore, the release said.

The exchange launched market-making scheme, known as the liquidity enhancement incentive programmes, or LEIPs, in September to improve liquidity.

As many as 117 brokers participated in derivatives trading today, the release added.
