Do you know that 286 runs were scored in a single ball? This happened in Australia when during a match the ball  got stuck in the branches of a tree and batsmen kept running before an axe and a rifle were brought to the ground. However, in a first class match the highest run in a single ball was conceded by Yorkshire pacer Ryan JaySidebottom when he bowled five consecutive wides and then was hit for a six against Glamorgan in 2003. In Test cricket it is eight runs — this having been achieved four times. Last being in a 2008 Test match between Australia and New Zealand in Brisbane, when Symonds and Clarke ran four runs and overthrows added four more. Brian Lara, Patsy Hendren and John Wright are the other batsman who achieved this feat
