Woodland ties-up with German co

Homegrown footwear and apparel player Woodland today said it tied-up with a German design firm for converting its outlets into eco-friendly stores under a Rs 100-crore deal.

The company also said it has started using German made dyes and chemicals for its products as part of the green campaign and will be setting up special treatment plants in all its 10 plants for recycling waste water.

"The Rs 100-crore contract with the Germany-based Huberland will give a new look to 10 of our flagship outlets within a year. This will involve furnishing the stores with re-usable furniture and other recyclable matters, besides having devices for use of wind and solar energy," Woodland managing director Harkirat Singh told PTI.

He said in future all new stores will also be furnished using the green design and it is looking at expanding the scope of contract with Huberland. It has also started using imported dyes and chemicals for its footwear and apparel.

"We have ten facilities across the country and German made dyes and chemicals are now used exclusively. Besides being user-friendly, they also make our products recyclable," Singh said, adding the company is setting up water treatment plants at all its facilities, besides increasing use of renewable energy.
