Repro acquires printing operations of MPIL

Print solutions provider Repro India has acquired the printing operations of Macmillan Publishers India (MPIL), the subsidiary of the UK-based publisher Macmillan. As per the agreement, MPIL will outsource the printing of their education books to Repro, converting into a business of over Rs 250 crore for Repro over the next 5 years.

The acquisition will strengthen Repro’s foot-hold in the south Indian market. Pramod Khera, executive director of Repro India, said, “This will position Repro as a crucial global partner for Macmillan. It should also throw up opportunities to partner wi-th Macmillan globally.”

MPIL is one of the largest educational books publishers in India. Rajiv Beri, MD, Macmillan India said, “Printing is not our core activity and we would like to focus on publishing growth. This is a strategic decision that will further consolidate our investments and energies in development and delivery of quality, need-based content. ”
