REpower bags order for wind farm in Canada

up a 350 MW wind farm at Quebec in Canada.

"Suzlon Group company REpower Systems SE has signed a contract with EDF EN Canada, a unit of EDF Energies Nouvelles, for the delivery of 175 turbines of 2 MW each for a project in Quebec, Canada," Suzlon said in a statement.

With a total rated output of 350 MW the Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm will be the biggest project in the history of REpower, the statement said.

However, the financial details of the order were not disclosed in the statement.

The project will be developed in two phases, first construction of 150 MW starts in 2013, commissioning is set for December 2014. The second phase of 200 MW is scheduled for commissioning in December 2015, the statement added.

"We recognise and appreciate our long-term partnership with REpower. Together our companies have commissioned 1,275 MW throughout North America," Al Kurzenhauser, COO of EDF EN Canada, said.

"This contract is a milestone for REpower as it is our biggest to date. We are looking forward to continuing our successful collaboration with EDF EN," Andreas Nauen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of REpower Systems SE, said.

The contract is part of the framework agreement of up to 954 MW signed between EDF EN and REpower in 2009.

Shares of Suzlon Energy jumped 8.02 per cent at Rs 22.90, in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
