Pergo aims to ride real estate boom, eyes 25% growth
Jun 21 2011 , Bangalore
Speaking about the company’s growth plan, Naresh Maheshwari, CEO of Pergo, said that the boom in retail and sudden increase in the number of real estate projects across India has been the major growth driver for the firm.
“This financial year, we expect to record a 25 per cent jump in our revenue over last year. The laminate flooring market in India is a Rs 200 crore industry and it is growing at the rate of 15-20 per cent year-on-year,” he added.
The company commands a 20 per cent share in this market.
Maheshwari pointed out that though the bulk of the demand comes from the metros, the non-metros are fast catching up.
“About 10-15 per cent of our revenue comes from these secondary cities and with the number of housing projects coming up in these places; we expect tier II and III cities to contribute about 20-25 per cent to our turnover,” he added.
The company, which imports its products, has no plans to set up a manufacturing facility in India at present. Though priced at a premium, the company does not see any dearth of demands from the consumers, who crave for quality and longevity.
