Mindtree to take 4,000 freshers for 2012-13

Global IT and product engineering services company MindTree will recruit about 4,000 freshers from the campuses during the fiscal 2012-13. This is part of its efforts to widen the employee base to cut down personnel expenses, said its VC Subroto Bagchi.

“We are not flat at the base. We need to achieve that so there will be significant addition of freshers,” he said. “We could have been more risk taking in our earlier attempts. The markets did not perform as bad as has been portrayed,” he said adding the firm for the next fiscal did not want to be a conservative recruiter.

The mid-sized IT company has seen resource utilisation levels of 75.8 per cent excluding the trainees and 68.3 per cent including them as of December quarter due to addition of 800 personnel during December quarter and another 1,000 freshers previous quarter. MindTree has given offers to 3,000 campus graduates for FY13, who are expected to join from May 2012.

This would help MindTree, which clocked revenues of $103.7 million as of December quarter, cushion margins. The company saw about 3.4 per cent increase over the September quarter in price realisation. Bagchi said the company has been adopting comparative pay points to give hikes to the employees to improve the efficiency and margins.
