be ready for operation by September 2011.

"The construction work for the Rs 4,500 crore project is progressing fast. The first unit of the power plant would be commissioned in December 2010 while the second unit would be ready by September 2011," Tata Power Executive Director S Padmanabhan told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

The 2x525 mw power plant is a joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation.

Asked about the company's proposed project in Jharkhand, he said the company was looking for a suitable land in the state.

"The proposed plant's capacity would depend on the availability of coal," he said.

Padmanabhan said that Jharkhand is an important center for setting up power plants due to the availability of coal in the state.
