Mahindra Two Wheelers to rollout 10 models in 2 years

"We will be coming out with 10 new models at least in next 2 to 2.5 years; we are almost working on an average to come out with a new model every three to four months," Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd President (Two wheeler sector) and member of the Group Executive Board Anoop Mathur told reporters here.
".....We are moving in the right direction and indeed you will start seeing some of them in the next few months itself; ....A completely redefined style line Mojo, 300cc bike will be released during the Delhi auto expo in February 2014." he added.
Stating that the rollout planned was across the scooter and motorcycle category, he said: "We are working on both the categories at the same degree of emphasis- as the market demands."
Answering a question on sales, without giving any numbers he said, "Our sales propensity today is much higher than we can meet, what we are doing therefore is we are ramping up our capacity;...We are investing in enhancing the capacity further- so as to raise the bar further depending- because of the fact that there is unfulfilled demand for our products."
Stating the company is able to produce over 1,000 bikes per day, that is around 25,000 to 30,000 a month, he said: "In this industry, increase in capacity happens in step function and our first milestone is going to a 50 per cent higher than this- by the end of November."
The company has a plant at Pithampura near Indore.
On joining hands with foreign players, he said: "We are always open to any strategic partnership with anybody who in working with us can enhance the value of the business or for the customer or for the share holder."
"That does have to be a financial arrangement it can even be a participation in technology sharing, it can be in the form of supplier-client relationship...." he added.
Stating that the company's export plan will be aggressive in the years to come because of strong potential, he said the company wanted to reach 20 per cent exports "..Our immediate plan is to first go 10 per cent and very soon go to 20 per cent- it could happen in couple of years."
Mahindra Two Wheelers Vice President (Sales & Customer Care) Dharmendra Mishra said the company planned to take the number of its outlets to 1,400 by this fiscal end and 2,000 by the end of next financial year (FY 2015).
