of its motorcycle model Stallio in the domestic market due to technical problems, would re-launch the refurbished motorcycle in the current financial year.

The company also plans to launch the premium motorcycle model Mojo in 2011-12.

“So far, the two-wheeler business is doing better than expected. In case of Mahindra Stallio, we would be recalibrating the entire motorcycle and re-launch it in the domestic market,” Anand Mahindra, vice chairman and MD, M&M group, told reporters in Mumbai.

Since its launch in October 2010, Stallio reported problems with the gearbox, forcing Mahindra 2 Wheelers to halt the production of the motorcycle.

The company also recalled the sold units. In March 2011, the company manufactured just 49 units and did not sell anything.

The company has sold 5,181 units till March this year and has not sold the motorcycle at all in the last couple of months.

“We could have launched a separate variant of the motorcycle. But we didn’t, since our focus is on quality and reliability of the product,” Mahindra added.

Anup Mathur, president – two-wheeler, Mahindra and Mahindra said, “We will be launching the re-freshed Stallio in the later part of this financial year, followed by the more powerful 300cc motorcycle Mojo.” The company plans to launch electric car Reva NXR EV by end of this financial year. M&M plans to spend Rs 5,800 crore as capital expenditure over the next three years. Among the new products that the company plans to launch is the much talked about global sports utility vehicle (SUV).
