LG Electronics India will invest $6 million (about Rs 28 crore) this fiscal to market its business solutions. The new line includes network monitors, projectors and digital signage with focus on education.
“We are expecting Rs 200 crore additional revenue in fiscal 2010 with the launch of the new range,” said R Manikandan, business group marketing head, business solutions, LG India. The division is expected to earn Rs 1,100 crore revenue this financial year compared to Rs 989 crore in 2008. LG reported Rs 10,730 crore revenue in 2008 and expects to close 2009 at about Rs 13,000 crore.
The company is targeting about one lakh government and private schools over the next three years for solutions, including network monitors, e-boards (digital blackboards) and projection solutions. Network monitors help to connect one PC to 11 desktops and are ideal for classrooms, Manikandan said. The teacher’s machine will centrally monitor all the students’ systems. The hardware infrastructure costs about Rs 15,000 per student. The e-board solution comes with a plasma display with built-in PC. It costs about Rs 20,000 per student.
