LG Electronics eyes 30% CTV market share

South Korean firm LG Electronics plans to sell four million colour televisions (CTVs) in India this fiscal taking its market share to 30 per cent by introducing energy-efficient models.

The company, which enjoys 27 per cent share of the total CTV sales in the country, has brought out a new range of energy efficiency rated models and has said that the move will help it improve its market presence further.

"...We are planning to develop 31 models with 100 per cent star rating by end of 2009...With this, we aim to increase our market share from the current 27 per cent to 30 per cent by end of this year, expecting total sales of four million sets in domestic market," LG India Business Group Marketing Head Amitabh Tiwari said in a statement.

LG said it sold 3.3 million CTVs last year, while the industry total was 13 million.

LG plans to launch 31 models in the star-rated CTV category, with 19 flat and 12 ultra slim TVs. It has already launched eight of these models.
