close down its factories for three days every week.

"We have decided to close down our factories for three days every week after holding discussions with the Union. We took this decision as the industry is witnessing a slump overall," a company official told PTI here today. "

He said it was difficult for operators to get loans and inventories could not be piled up.

It would be effective till December and due to this the production would be halved,he said.

For the month of October 2008 Ashok Leyland reported a dip in their total domestic sales of 2,976 units as against 6,280 units.

For the period April-October 2008, the total domestic sales stood at 35,302 units as against 40,326 units during the same period last year.
