Jarden to focus on selling Oster, Bionaire brands

Jarden Consumer Solutions of India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of American Jarden Corp, one of the world’s leading brands in home and kitchen appliances, is aggressively expanding its footprint in the Indian market.

The Fortune 500 and $5.4 billion company plans to sell under its Oster brand, a range of electrical kitchen appliances such as grinders, rice cookers, hand blenders, toasters, steam irons and food saver vacuum sealing systems. It also plans to sell under its Bionaire brand a range of air purifiers, tower fans, fans, heaters and humidifiers. “India is an important growing market for the company and we are here for the long haul,” Vinayak Sukthankar, head, India operations, told Financial Chronicle. The company, which began operations last year with offices in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore, plans to cover 25 main cities across India by the end of December 2009. The company, which has clocked significant growth, plans to achieve double-digit growth by the end of 2010, Sukthankar said. The company imports kitchen appliances and air purifiers from its facilities in China and Mexico
