CavinKare forays into restaurant business

The Rs 700 crore fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) major CavinKare, which entered the foods and beverages business sometime ago, is now eyeing a major presence in the restaurant business. The company, which is planning to establish a food chain under the brand, ‘CK’s Foodstaurant,’ opened its first outlet in Pondicherry on Wednesday. The new CK’s Foodstaurant, which is positioned as an Indo-American restaurant, will offer a cuisine that is a mix of both Indian and Western to suit every palate and pocket, a statement from the company said. In addition to offering the best of Indo-American cuisine, the restaurant will also offer new dishes such as ‘murukku sandwich,’ ‘crumb-fried idlies,’ ‘mutton kheema pav’ and ‘mutton kheema dosa,’ which the customers will find it difficult to get in other places.

“We have seen a tremendous growth in our food business by venturing into the snacks and beverage industry. The launch of CK’s Foodstaurant in Pondicherry aims to give the best quality food at an affordable cost to customers with a never-before experience,” C K Ranganathan, chairman and managing director, CavinKare said.
