will expand its online matrimony services to a couple of south Asian markets.

Owned by Consim Info, the online matrimonial site is considering tapping countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, where the institution of marriage is quite similar to that in India. Most of the company’s services and business models that have been successful in India will be replicated in these foreign markets, said J Murugavel, founder and chief executive officer of Consim. BharatMatrimony recently launched religion-based matchmaking services such as ChristianMatrimony and SikhMatrimony. It also launched personalised services for the super-rich and celebrities called EliteMatrimony.com and BM Privilege. Both the services come with personalised matchmakers for clients. Consim targets about Rs 12 crore revenue from the services.

The company offers services including matchmaking, job search, real estate and automobile buying and selling. It received funding of $11.75 million from Yahoo! in January 2008. The investment will be used for its international foray and to grow the company’s other portals such as ClickJobs.com, IndiaProperty.com and Loanwala.com. One of the main reasons behind the company’s name change last year was to go beyond matrimony and India.

“We are profitable. We have enough money to keep growing. All our business verticals are growing at a healthy pace. We will be coming out with a disruptive business model for our jobs portal ClickJobs.com shortly. It would change the way people seek jobs in the country,” Murugavel added. However, he refused to divulge further details.

Consim invested about Rs 50 crore last year on marketing and advertisements. Though there won’t be a major shift in the investments this year, the company is planning quarter-on-quarter budgets because of the highly dynamic external conditions, he said.
