Bata India Q4 net rises 20.3 per cent

Footwear major Bata India reported a 20.3 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 25.40 crore during the last quarter of 2009 as against Rs 21.11 crore in the same period last year.

During the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009, net sales increased by 12.8 per cent to Rs 288.09 crore compared to Rs 255.22 crore in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a filing with the National Stock Exchange.

The results were announced after the company's board meeting today.

Consolidated net sales during the year ending December 31, 2009, inched up by 10.7 per cent to Rs 1,090.17 crore compared to Rs 984.37 crore in the previous year.

Net profit for the full year 2009 increased by 5.9 per cent to Rs 62.57 crore against Rs 59.05 crore in the last year.
