The company, in which Swiss major Holcim holds a majority stake, had reported a net profit of Rs 248.86 crore a year ago, ACC said in a statement.

Net sales of the company rose to Rs 2,647.40 crore during the quarter against Rs 2,093.27 crore in the October-December quarter of the previous year.

The total expenditure of the company during the quarter went up to Rs 2,396.69 crore against Rs 2,007.15 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Hike in freight charges, raw material consumption, and power and fuel costs inflated the expenditure.

For the full year 2011, ACC's net profit rose to Rs 1,300.80 crore from Rs 1,077.52 crore in 2010.

Net sales during the year also increased to Rs 10,012 crore compared to Rs 8,260.63 crore a year earlier.
