Shivpal floats Samajwadi Secular Morcha; Akhilesh, BJP dismissive

Sidelined Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav on Tuesday launched a new outfit —  Samajwadi Secular Morcha — and said he would try to unite smaller parties under it. However, Shivpal, the estranged uncle of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, refused to answer whether the Morcha will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Centre can try legislative route for construction of Ram temple: UP Dy CM

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday said he was hopeful that if the need arose and there was no way out, the Centre could opt for the legislative route in Parliament for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, when it has adequate numbers in both Houses.

“When such a need arises that there is no way out except bringing a Bill, I am fully confident that in such a situation and when we have adequate strength (in both Houses of Parliament), remember these two things,” he said without elaborating.

Unnao rape: BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar chargesheeted by CBI

The CBI on Monday chargesheeted Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar for the alleged rape of a minor girl in Unnao at his residence on June 4 last year.

In the charge sheet filed in special CBI court here, Sengar and his associate Shashi Singh have been charged with criminal conspiracy and other offences under IPC and section 3 and 4 of the The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) which relates to rape of minors.
