VE Commercial Vehicles' sales up 51% in December

Auto-maker VE Commercial Vehicles today said it recorded 51.22 per cent jump in its monthly sales at 4,030 units in December 2010.

The joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors had sold 2,665 units in the same month previous year, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) said in a statement.

Domestic sales in December last year increased to 3,426 units from 2,378 units in the same month a year ago, a jump of 44.07 per cent, the company added.

Exports for the month also soared by over two fold to 604 units from 287 units in December 2009.

Sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market went up by 31.30 per cent to 2,706 units during the month, as against 2,061 units in December 2009.

Heavy commercial vehicle sales recorded an over three fold jump to 521 units in December 2010 from 150 units in December last year, it added.
