Nissan Motor India is the latest, launching its sixth generation Z car, the 370Z in the domestic market priced around Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The 370Z is expected to compete with existing premium sports cars like BMW Z4, Mercedes Benz AMG and Audi R8 among others.

Nissan’s 370Z, which will be imported from Japan as complete built unit, is priced lower by around Rs six lakh than its nearest competitor BMW Z4 . Whereas, other models like AMG and R8 are priced over Rs 1.10 crore.

“A online campaign, including test drives for sports car enthusiasts will be held to promote and push sales of the car to gain significant share in the Indian sports car market,” said Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and CEO, Nissan Motor India.

“The luxury car segment has seen a growth of 23 per cent in 2009 and gradually demand for sports car has buoyed,” said Abhijeet Pandit, VP (operations) Hover Automotive India - strategic partner for sales and marketing for Nissan in India.
