Maruti to expand production capacity at Gurgaon

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), on Saturday said that it would expand

production capacity at its Gurgaon plant by 90,000 units from December this year annually.

“We will invest Rs 150 crore in expanding production capacity of our Gurgaon plant by 70-90,000 units from December,” said Ajay Sud, chief financial officer of MSIL.

The company has another plant at Manesar with a capacity of 300,000 units.

The company’s MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi also said the company is considering capacity expansion at its Manesar plant, which would be decided in the company’s next board meeting.

MSIL is also thinking of upgrading its Gurgaon plant with modern facilities as it is more than 30 years old, Nakanishi added
