T K Kurien, who heads Wipro’s IT consulting division, will be the new president of Wipro Eco-Energy that Behar oversaw, effective April 1, 2010. The company has been an early mover in the clean energy and energy efficiency space offering multi-technology consulting and engineering, coupled with implementation of integrated solutions for commercial, industrial and utility clients.

Kumar will continue to lead the human resources, brand and communication functions. Both he and Kurien will report to Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro.

Behar joins Dileep Ranjekar in leading the not-for-profit organisation that the Wipro chairman set up in 2001. Over the last 10 years the Azim Premji Foundation has done significant work to contribute to systemic reform in the education system in India.

The foundation is embarking on its next strategic phase and will further scale up its initiatives in the area of education and other allied fields.
