Earlier the company, which is one of Asia's leading providers of telecommunications services with operations in India and Sri Lanka, had announced the restructuring of its top management would come in to effect from April 1, 2010.

On January 13, the company had announced that the deputy chief executive officer (CEO), Sanjay Kapoor, would be elevated to the position of CEO (India and South Asia). Kohli, who has been holding this position would head the International Business Group as chief executive officer (International) and joint managing director.

The statement said that Jai Menon, who is currently group CIO, Bharti Enterprises and director technology and customer service, Bharti Airtel, would move to the Bharti group corporate office as group director IT.
