My screen

LIKE sunscreen lotions, many computer users wish that there would be a screen to protect prying eyes from looking at their screens.
This happens mostly in offices -worse off if your boss has this bad habit. When you confront these visual pirates, they usually come with up with these standard lines: "I wasn't looking", "I was distracted" or "I was thinking about something else". Lying trolls, that's what they are. With other colleagues, one can point the obvious and shout, "stop staring at my screen." Some of these pirates will even murmur what they are reading. Just imagine! As if it's a classic novel and they want to finish up reading the last few lines. The worst ones are near the water coolers. Imagine, you have had a temporary marital discord and are actually trying to say sorry to your husband. When one of those pirates walks across the bay, they gobble up everything that was on the chat screen and behold! Before you know, your boss may be coming up to you and telling you: "It happens always with my wife whenever I go on tours during weekends." Privacy goes out of the window in seconds. Of course, if you are really fat, these human problems don't affect you since you will be permanently blocking their view. For thin ones, the trick is to stand up whenever somebody comes up.
Posture yourself over your screen and save your private conversations from becoming office gossip.
Using laptops is also an option, if you don't want to stand. Another alternative is to follow the pirate's eyes whenever they start following your screen. If you manage to hold them for five seconds, they will probably realise that they are trying to read your screen. For thick-skinned miscreants, distract them from the moment they start ogling at your computer screen. And if you are reading this online, watch out for the pirates over your shoulder.
Don't think you can win them over by sharing lunch or lending the month-end small-ticket loan.
Where there is a sea, there are always pirates.
