Aeon is the longest unit of geological time, comprising two or more eras. The death and esurrection of Jesus Christ divided time into two eras, BC and AD. BC is used to denote the time before the birth of Christ. While AD, Anno Domini, is used to denote time since his birth, which is widely misinterpreted as after the death of Christ. Since clocks and calendars were synchronised, mankind has made technological advancement by leaps and bounds.

Consider this. The first commercial text message was sent in December 1992. Today, the number of messages sent and received far exceeds the total population of the world.

This is because people want to connect with each other, and have the urge to use new mediums. It is this urge that led to the invention of radio, which was followed by television. However, the audience matters, too. It took 38 years for radio to get 50 million listeners. Television achieved that feat in 13 years.

But, everything changed with the entry of the internet, which took four years and iPod only three years to get 50 million users. The number of internet devices in 1984 was 1,000. In 2008, this figure was one billion. And, guess what? All this information is Googled. According to statistics from Nielsen Online, more than 4.8 billion searches were conducted through the Google search engine in September 2008 alone, which represents 59.7 per cent of all searches carried out during this period. Two years ago, this number was 2.7 billion.
So, who was answering these queries before Google? Many say it is the beginning of a new era or aeon. And, what would it be called? Perhaps, BG, as it fits fine because Google and its products are getting into every conceivable space. We'll just have to wait and watch to see what happens in AG (After Google).
