today said that they would be at the centre of the bank's business in the the coming year.

It's not very common for CEO of a bank or any other company to write personalised greetings to all the customers and it is only top-end customers, business associates and the staff who get such New Year wishes.

"As we enter a New Year, I extend my good wishes to you and your family," ICICI Bank's CEO and MD Chanda Kochhar said in her greeting mailed to the bank's customers today.

"2010 has been a year, where we at ICICI Bank renewed and reinforced our commitment to serve you better. We articulated "Khayaal Aapka" (Your Care) as the guiding principle of our relationship with our customers," she said.

Kochhar, who took over as the bank's chief in May 2009, further said that ICICI Bank was entering 2011 "with excitement and optimism, focused on keeping you - our valued customer - at the centre of our business."

She had begun her career as a management trainee with the group in 1984 and joined the board of ICICI Bank in 2001.

Lately, the bank has been focusing mostly on its existing customers for all its services in the retail banking business, including loans and credit cards.

"We have positioned ICICI Bank to meet the growing needs of our customers in the vibrant Indian economy. In the coming year, we will build on the strong foundation we have created and strive to serve you better and grow our relationship with you," she added.

Talking about the year 2010, Kochhar said that the bank took several initiatives to improve the customers' engagement.

"To offer greater ease of access, we expanded our branch network to over 2,500 branches, the largest among private sector banks.

Through this expanded branch network and our technology- enabled channels like ATMs, the internet, phone banking and mobile banking, we seek to offer you banking services at your convenience," she added.
