accounts to customers through mobile phones.

The service would enable the customers check account balance, transfer of funds and view transaction details. It would also enable them to request for cheque books, locate branches and ATMs and receive account alerts on their handsets.

The customers could also use the service for paying bills, booking tickets and access credit card details.

"The launch of the service is in line with our efforts to provide the customer comprehensive financial products which are both convenient and secure by using the latest technology," bank MD and CEO Amitabh Chathurvedi told reporters at a press meet here.

Powered by technology from Zylog Systems Ltd, it has all the security feateres with end-to-end encryption and secured communication, he said.

On an expansion mode, Dhanalaxmi bank planned to open 125 new branches next year, he said.

To a question, Chathurvedi said there was no basis to the propaganda that the Kerala-based bank had plans to re-locate its headquarters from Thrissur to Mumbai.

On apprehensions aired by certain employees unions in this regard, he said " There are some people who make this propaganda but they do not represent the vast majority of employees in the organisation."
