Hip-hop diary

I never thought that nursing a twisted ankle would set my mind in motion. The past five days, after a leisurely jog took an ugly turn, has been a revelation for me.
On Day One, the twist didn’t matter. Later in the day, the ankle started twitching. I twittered my friends and exchanged a few notes about the pain that was gradually setting in. By the night, many muscles tripped over each other to make their inflated presence felt. On Day Two, visits to the washroom became the biggest challenge of my life. It was an arduous one-legged hip-hop. The idea was to minimise the frequency of visits to the washroom. So, the lesson learned was — must eat and drink less.
Day Three: After spending a full day in bed, the ankle felt relaxed but the pain had encroached towards other parts of my foot. Thankfully, all the things that I needed such as, books, laptop, CDs, mobile, snacks were at arm’s length. So, I started living a digital life, but all alone.
On Day Four, fed up of being alone, I contacted all my friends online and on the phone and shared similar experiences with a few of them. I pursued my creative inclinations. Explored several short and feature films. And read about many fascinating things that diverted my attention for some time.
Finally on Day Five, the medication started working. I started hopping around like a one-legged frog. By this time, I was pretty much the prince of my kingdom (a 2BHK flat). My wish was my command. However, for a glutton like me, paradise is all about a steady supply of the essential Bs —biryani, beer, bike, beaches and Bollywood. However, the big lesson of these five days was that Bollywood tops the charts, especially when you are laid up in bed. Jai Ho!
