Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni today called upon various organisations in the field of health and wellness to join hands with the government for the purpose.
"I want to make India a global healing destination where people from across the world can get physical as well as spiritual healing," Soni said, while speaking at 4th Annual Convocation function of VLCC Institute here.
Referring to the Kerala model of such therapies, which is attracting both domestic and overseas tourists, the Minister said other parts of the country could also be developed as "healing hubs" through a partnership between the government and health and wellness organisations.
"My Ministry invites everybody working in this field to help achieve this goal," she said.
Observing that people have become more conscious towards their health and fitness which is being resulted into the growth of the industry, the minister said there are numerous opportunities for youth to make career in this sector.
On this occasion, VLCC Institute of Beauty, Health and Management announced its strategic tie-up with Doncaster College in the United Kingdom to provide students exposure of the global industry.
"VLCC has embarked on an ambitious target to empower more technicians and churn out a vast talent pool for the beauty and fitness industry," said VLCC Education division COO Ashok K Pandit.
